California High Speed Rail. Environmental & Engineering services for the Palmdale-Burbank section

The scope of the project is the development of a tender design proposal for a design-build project that the builder consortium presented to Los Angeles Metro (The Client). The project involves the construction of a 3 km tunnel to connect two existing lines (blue line and gold line) in Los Angeles Metro Network. In this section 3 underground stations are considered. (The stations of: Hope 2nd, 2nd and 1st Broadway central).
SENER was involved in the coordination of all the design, leading the team of systems design, catenary, traction supply, TBM tunnel, connecting galleries and utilities. Within the services included in the tender design contract Sener carried out the following:
- Design Management of the entire project
- Systems leader for all the facilities
- Design of catenary and traction power supply: design review provided in the specifications (RFP) and the verification of compliance with specific criteria and standards of Los Angeles Metro (The Client). Analysis of cost reduction opportunities within the design
- Design of the TBM excavated tunnel, including geotechnical analysis, subsidence analysis, design of connecting galleries and verification of the tunnel section and the size of the connecting galleries
- Task force meeting participation
