Caltrain Downtown Extension - San Francisco, California

The Downtown Rail Extension (DXT) will extend the Caltrain commuter line in San Francisco from its current end point at Fourth Street and King Street to a new transit hub at the Transbay Transit Center (TTC). The DTX will also allow High-Speed Rail trains to TTC.

SENER was hired by Birmingham LLD, the owner of one of the adjacent buildings. The construction of the extension could have a negative impact on the property, so Birmingham chose SENER to provide consultancy service to minimize its effects.

SENER performed a value engineering concept study to identify an alternate option to access the railway tunnel that would minimize community impact. Alignment, railway operation and constructability were some of the key aspects considered in the study.
